The VX has been to Back on Track this week for a service and MOT. While it was there I had the windscreen surround and the V wrapped in black also had the geometry set up which I didn't think would make much difference but it has made the car feel so much better so was worth the money.

That looks great Royster.  Subtle but it works really well.  Such a light car I can imagine is sensitive to proper set up.  Even in the R32 I can tell when the tyre pressures are slightly off and thats 1.5 times as heavy as your car!  Look forward to seeing this at Portchester next weekend, that is if you're bringing it!

It makes a huge difference to get a car professionally set up - Most definitely worth it.

Thumbs up

That looks good ! Standard 2.2 or the Turbo ? Dazzer (who is coming to the 'ring with us) runs a standard 2.2, I was really impressed with it, very nice car. Do they need much TLC and have the usual Lotus rattles and squeaks ?

Yeah, she is a turbo and yes it has the standard rattles and squeaks. As for TLC I'd never use a pressure washer on her and as for maintenance its a Vauxhall so bits are very cheep, in fact the service at the lotus specialist was only £130 Smiley

....Most people who disable ABS are just trying to tell the world they have big cojones.

By all means switch ESP off for some track use but in the constantly changing dynamics of road driving, it's the action of a fool IMO. It's always when you don't expect it that you're glad you've got it switched on.

Robin, you've obviously never met Dazzer, a very experienced driver and a personal friend of mine since childhood. As I recall him telling me, the ABS system on the VX is a GM parts-bin system that does not cope well with unique braking dynamics of the lightweight VX, on wet welsh roads where he lives he found it "dangerously intrusive", hence the switch. He has owned 2 VX's I think, amongst plenty of other interesting metal. Unlike me, he's an intelligent and modest guy with a very high standard of track driving, and certainly no fool.  Wink

....Then I stand corrected and after reading the explanation about the GM parts-bin etc I can totally respect his reasoning. And, no I haven't either met or heard of Dazzer.

Thumbs up
