Well the subframe has just come back from the powder coasters so is all shiney black now to match the frame (well is a little bit out as frame was wet-sprayed but will look a lot better than the silver Ducati paint them) now, while the side panels are off (front of the petrol tank) what do you think should I get them wrapped in silver chrome or leave black ?

Thanks Dan, here is a pic of a of the bike in question although because mine has mirrors & screen may look a little blacker ? The subframe is now black (I know, I have no logic !) although googling the picture it seems the new HM 796 comes in black & silver so don't know if that makes it a better or worse idea (they have the taillight cover in silver whereas mine has black luggage rack instead) could also but black tape over the red wheels stripes maybe ? Would have to be chrome not silver though !

I threw this p'chop together not knowing how on earth to replicate chrome.  Exaggerated the effect but will give you a rough idea.

I doubt I could wrap a part.  Its pretty tricky.  And something like chrome which shows up marks too easily would require a pro install job!  I've done house renovations and building work before.  Not that I'm offering though!!  What you having/thinking of doing?  I did up a house from this

Nice job Dan - wanting to do a kitchen/diner + some bedrooms in the roof (bungalow) still at the design stage so no idea if/when building will start !

Chrome is the most expensive/hardest to work with so is going to be a job for Racoon !

Think it may have to be the kitchen foil as this is the repsonse from Racoon -

"It is unlikely this kind of intricate shape can be wrapped using the Mirror Chrome film to the kind of standard you would need. The Mirror Chrome is not designed to conform to this kind of shape and would need to be fitted in sections. A rough indication of price, £240.00 ex VAT".

May see if I can take a side-panel up to them so they can see it in the plastic as really would like them in chrome now but seems rather expensive...

Yes, I might see if I have any customers near Racoon so I can take a panel in for them to look at as I only sent them a photo so hoping they are being pessimistic - however I guess these films were designed for cars so probably not best suited to wrapping bikes ?

You can buy chrome paint from halfords.  It might not be as full on chrome as you were thinking but its got a raw metal of sheen.  You could buy a can and spray something else plastic to see what the effect was like.  Something black would work well as believe thats what gives the real chrome paint most of its depth of shine.
