Probably because people think that an R20 is another Golf version. The R20 actually doesn't exist - It became the commonly used term by enthusiasts when referring to the then-yet-to-be-launched Golf R.

So, are you saying that the Golf R isn't doing so well in sales? I'm not sure that VW see it as a high volume seller anyway but more of a flagship in a niche market. I'd have one if I was buying another Golf. I don't like the Scirocco body shape, R or otherwise.

As Dan suggested, if Audi offer a RS3 Sportback with S-tronic then I might be interested, but no lesser spec will do for me. I ain't ever going back to a conventional floor stick manual and I don't want any drop in the performance I have now. If a 2-seater, then a Cayman S (with paddles) but I do also like the TTRS like Jamie's and JonnyC's, as long as S-tronic.

However, even after 5 years and 87k miles, I'm still absolutely in love with my Mk5 GTI and just hope it'll go on forever! It's unbeatable as an allrounder: Transported home a 6ft length of fence recently and last week took 4 (19yo) girlies and their suitcases to the airport for a week in Paris.. I drove a different route home via about 60 miles of cross country twisties and didn't hang about. I love it!

I'm hoping to have a drive of Milltek's Golf R in due course.

Hope you can make the next Porchester meet, Dave - You haven't been around for ages! Still, if I had your girlfriend I'd doubtless be making the same choices.

Thumbs up

I was watching the race live. I knew, as many, that it would probably end in tragedy. A truly horrific accident and puts motorcycle racing into perspective.

A much more tasteful video on MotoGP.com  - http://www.motogp.com/en/videos/2010/Shoya+on+the+track+and+beyond+we+will+always+follow+your+line

RIP Shoya

Apple certainly do live up to the Arthur C Clarke quote "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" guess these will go live on Labor Day as remember buying loads of stuff from Apple Store NY to bring back & they lanuched new stuff while was on the plane home !

I did e-mail them & they said were happy to take back if unused but of course that wasn't particularly practical once back in the UK...
